Can you describe in a few sentences what your job involves?
Taking the creative work from our design and UX team, turning them into interactive in-browser prototypes and then taking them on to final products with the Server-side team.
What's been your most rewarding project?
Helping to create the Covid-19 contact tracing portal. To be working on a project that was helping the NHS during the pandemic was extremely rewarding.
What challenges you most in your role?
Creating sites that will work for as many visitors and users as possible, with their varying devices and technical needs.
What career path did you take to get here?
I graduated in Computer Science and Physics, too many years ago to count! I wanted to be able to do something creative with my coding skills and felt that front-end coding would be a good fit.
I began in an internship with a local marketing agency and have been learning on the job every day since then! New techniques and platforms appear all the time – there's always something new to learn.
How do you find the work-life balance at Storm?
I have a young family so things are always super busy, but the flexible working policy has been extremely helpful. There's a real level of trust and respect between Storm and their employees which allows this to work for everyone.
What do you enjoy most about life at Storm?
Having started at Storm right at the beginning of the pandemic, I don't think I could have asked for a friendlier and more welcoming team. Everyone has always gone above and beyond to be welcoming and helpful, making the strangeness of the last couple of years so much easier!
