Can you describe in a few sentences what your job involves?

Working across multi-disciplinary teams to make sure their work is technically feasible, business viable and usable for both the client and target audiences.

What career path did you take to get here?

I started out in public health research, and worked for a time in product development and advertising. Following this I studied for a Masters of Science by researching the impact of technology on urban and rural environments, then moved into a large company focussing on smart cities strategy and use of data in the public sector.

I was drawn to Storm ID for its reputation across Scotland and innovative services such as Lenus Health. I knew I would have the opportunity to expand my horizons and be able to get involved with both strategy and delivery.

What do you enjoy most about life at Storm?

The people who work here are great, with a lot of enthusiasm and brainpower. I love being able to chat accessibility standards one minute, environment the next, and then go out for beers or a walk and cuddle the office dogs. Not going to lie I like the free coffee too.

What's been your most rewarding project?

Working on the Covid results delivery and digital contact tracing service for Scotland from the beginning of the pandemic. I acted as internal product owner for the service over 2 years.

We worked with health boards and national emergency responses to deliver a cost-effective approach to contact tracing, using SMS and a simple web app. I was able to work with our team and client on continuous improvements to the service, demonstrating the power of good UX design on improving conversion rates and user understanding.

Do you have any hidden talents or interesting hobbies?

I write fantasy novels in my spare time – Harper Voyager will be publishing my first book in 2023. I also love travel, food and drink. Ask me for recommendations, and tell me yours!
