Find out more about Geoff
Can you describe in a few sentences what your job involves?
I'm one of the technical leads. So I define a technical architecture for a solution and write a lot of the back-end code.
What's been your most rewarding project?
There have been so many over the years, I enjoy the variety of clients that we work with.
What challenges you most in your role?
The biggest challenge is starting a new project in a field that I have no previous knowledge of. Especially trying to get up to speed in parallel with doing the project work itself.
What makes you excited to come to work?
I enjoy the fast-moving pace of this sector, and the fact that there is always something new to learn.
I continued my studies up to PhD level in Physics. I spent a few years as a researcher working on new instruments for keyhole surgery. The part I enjoyed most was programming the equipment and analysing the results. So I decided that was the path I would prefer to take.

How do you find the work-life balance at Storm?
Storm has always been very supportive of finding a work/life balance, especially when my kids were younger. Now, with the move to more flexible working practices, I enjoy working from home, but with the occasional face-to-face meeting.
What do you enjoy most about life at Storm?
We have a large group of very talented people in their respective fields, and I enjoy being able to contribute as part of a team.
How have you grown at Storm?
Working for an agency means that we get to work on a wide variety of projects. There is usually something new to learn with each one, which keeps things interesting.
Do you have any hidden talents or interesting hobbies?
I spend most of my time singing! I am the assistant director of the Rolling Hills Chorus in Edinburgh. I have sung with a few quartets in the national Barbershop Quartet competition, including once with a "scratch" quartet, where we had our first rehearsal on Friday afternoon, and competed on Saturday!
