Lead data scientist

About you

You will have several years’ experience in data science and computational statistical analysis. You are looking for a new challenge working in a dynamic, ever changing digital landscape where collaboration between individuals, teams and clients makes a real difference to end users. You will have skills and experience including:  

  • experience with Machine Learning and computational statistical analysis using programming languages, preferably Python, but also R and/or Matlab
  • several years’ proven experience of learning from large-scale data sets in a scientific or engineering context
  • the ability to solve unusual and complex problems using a combination of appropriate statistics, machine learning, and computational methods
  • working knowledge of risk prediction and survival analysis
  • an awareness of data security, risk, and data protection compliance such as GDPR
  • the ability to summarize and visualize complex datasets to look for patterns and potential biases
  • the capability to discuss and explain complex ideas to both specialists and non-specialists, present research results to stakeholders, participate in scientific conferences, and contribute to publications
  • you enjoy working in a dynamic environment with teammates as well as independently in a self-guided manner

About the role

As a Lead Data Scientist at Storm, you will be part of our Technical team at our modern offices in historic Leith. We are developing a suite of new digital diagnostic and therapeutic services to help transform care delivery. Our Lenus platform supports secure, consent driven, exchange of patient generated health data from sensors, devices, wearables and digital services with care teams to support development of new proactive and preventative models of care. We have developed live services using Lenus platform targeting conditions such as COPD and Dermatology and have a range of other service types in development. You will to join our team to develop actionable insights from the continuous data streams to help stratify patient risk and provide decision support.

  • access amazing healthcare data  
  • work on services that will directly benefit healthcare and improve people’s lives
  • research new ways of modelling healthcare data to derive actionable insights
  • build machine learning algorithms to support patient risk stratification and clinical decision making
  • design experiments to measure the effectiveness of models
  • work collaboratively with engineering and service design teams to integrate and operationalise your work within new services for health professionals and patients
