Designer

Permanent — full time

About you

You will ideally have at least 3-4 years' experience in design, preferably with a degree level qualification. You want to take your career to the next level by doing good work that makes a real difference, with the support of a collaborative team. You'll have a portfolio showcasing your strong conceptual and critical thinking that underpins outstanding execution of graphic, typographic, interactive and user interface design. You’ll understand form follows function. You will already be comfortable writing HTML and CSS or have the desire to learn. You'll also need or have a desire to understand accessibility standards and agile development. If you've worked in a digital agency before, all the better.

You'll also need to be:

  • enthusiastic and motivated, with an appetite for learning
  • a great communicator and natural collaborator
  • unafraid to ask questions
  • adept at solving conceptual problems
  • organised and good at prioritising work
  • focused, with sharp attention to detail
  • passionate about improving outcomes for clients and the end user

About the role

As a designer at Storm, you'll be part of our creative team at our modern offices in historic Leith. Working across a diverse remit of projects, you'll conceptualise, prototype and iterate, working collaboratively within our diverse project teams. We prototype in the browser early and often in an iterative, user focused manner incorporating rounds of user testing to help validate our concepts and execution.

What you'll do

You'll have a pretty impressive and varied set of responsibilities. You’ll be involved in a variety of projects that will require you to apply your expertise in many different ways. Here are some examples to give you a flavour of what you'll do:

  • sketch, prototype and wireframe designs that clearly communicate your ideas to help solve complex problems in an intense, highly collaborative manner
  • bring a forensic attention to detail and a passion for rigorous, disciplined, design execution
  • articulate and present your design rationale and critical thinking at internal critiques and with clients
  • promote the value of user-centred design, both internally and externally
  • be involved in the all stages of a project from conception to build to launch to ongoing optimisation
  • juggle multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities and tight schedules
